My name is Stine Kornbek and I am sixteen years old (seventeen in August). I come from Denmark and I live in Copenhagen with my parents and my little sister Sofie. We live in a yellow house situated on the island Amager. I was born in Frederiksberg in 1995 but we moved to Amager in 1998 so I don’t remember much about my life on the other side of the bridge between Amager and the rest of Copenhagen. I have another sister, Michelle, She is twenty-five years old and lives in her own apartment on Amager.
I went to a public school called Gerbrandskolen until I was fourteen. Then I moved to a private school called Christianshavns Doettreskole where I took my exam in the summer 2011. Since the summer 2011 I go to what we in Denmark call “gymnasium”. In England it is similar to grammar school. I have many different objects but in my class in particularly we are studying languages like English, Spanish, German, French and Latin.
A few years ago I used to swim a lot. In fact I swam at a high level and had to train ten times a week. I went to a lot of competitions and participated in the Danish Youth Championship several times. In 2010 I had enough of swimming at a high level and I gave up the sport. I still swim but just for fun and for the exercise. But I had some good years in the sport and look back at the period with joy. I still see many of the people I spend my time with in the swimming bath.
My studying doesn´t leave much time for hobbies, but as I mentioned I still swim a little. In my spare time I have a job in a supermarket called Kvickly where I attend to the customers in the baker´s shop. Sometimes I work as a checkout assistant, too.
I haven’t decided yet what I’m going to do after grammar school, but I guess I will continue to study and probably language will still be my favourite. I have dream of ending up at the military school and becoming a language officer. That would give me the possibility of travelling to foreign countries and work at the Danish embassies around the world.
