Hello!
My name is Nicolai - I’m 17 years old. I live in Denmark by now, but after high school I plan on going to Spain or France, because I love the two languages. At high school, I study both Spanish, French, English and Latin. I know what you think. That’s a lot of language! But I know that’s what I want to do when I grow up. The name of my school is “Rysensteen”, and my school is very old - founded in 1881! I chose this school because of the atmosphere. I love the old buildings and the walls, steaming with history and traditions. In addition, my school is situated in the center of Copenhagen, right beside Tivoli and the central station. I live in a town called “Tårnby”, quite far from where I go to school. I could’ve chosen a school closer to my home, but I chose Rysensteen because I wanted to get away from where I’d grown up, and wanted some new impressions and meet new people. You see, Tårnby is quite a small town, so everybody knows each other. I longed for meeting new people and get some challenge - both academically and personally. The reason why I chose to study Spanish and French was that I loved French in secondary school, and therefore chose to maintain it on a high level alongside with Spanish. I am familiar with many Spanish words because French and Spanish are so alike. It’s not that I don’t like math or science (I do like it actually - I like most subjects), but I feel I have a need to learn languages. My life is not to be lived in a classroom or in a school. I want to go out and explore the world - we have only one chance to do so, don’t we?
A bit about my interests; I play and write a lot of music, and it’s a big part of my life. I play both guitar and piano, and I’ve done it for about 5 years now. I don’t like new music. I mainly listen to blues- and jazz music. I also play Ultimate, a sport like American Football, where you use a frisbee.
I expect this exchange to be both academically and personally profitable, in the sense that I’ll be learning a lot of Spanish, but also get to see how you actually live in Argentina. We hear and see so many things about Argentina, but It’s definitely going to be fun exploring it for my self. I’ve only been within the borders of Europe, and experiencing another culture so far from my own is probably going to be one of the biggest things I’ve yet tried.
I’m looking forward to writing and meeting you!
Best regards,
Nicolai
